We'd like to take a moment and introduce some of our the people who have contributed articles or the materials in our store. These are some of the best and brightest minds on the net AND in real life. Be thankful they have taken time out of their schedules and life to contribute and help you become better prepared. Listen, think and act. History has never given gold stars to those who ignore wise counsel.
Just because we brag about these folks does not mean they are personally involved with Tornado Alley. It's our small effort at recognizing and thanking these people for their work. You should too.

Cresson H. Kearny graduated summa cum laude from Princeton in 1937. After winning a Rhodes Scholarship, Kearny earned two degrees in geology at Oxford. Following graduation from Oxford, Kearny did exploration work in Peru and Venezuela. Prior to Pearl Harbor and realizing that the US would soon be at war, he wanted our jungle troops to have the best possible equipment. Going on active duty as an infantry reserve lieutenant he was soon assigned to Panama as the Jungle Experiment Officer of the Panama Mobile Force. Here he improved or invented much of the specialized equipment used by jungle infantry in World War II. Kearny was promoted to major and awarded the Legion of Merit.
Worried about the increasing dangers of nuclear war and America's lack of civil defense caused Kearny in 1961 to consult with Herman Kahn, a leading nuclear strategist. Offered the position as research analyst Kearny spent two years as part of a think tank working on survivability problems. In 1964 he joined Oak Ridge and settled in except for a two year stint in Vietnam. His work and contributions to preparation for and surviving a nuclear war earned him the Army's Decoration for Distinguished Civilian Service in 1972.
