Thank you for dropping by. We appreciate your visit to our site and consider your time very valuable. So we'll get right to the point. The purpose of this page is to:
  • Introduce Tornado Alley,
  • Pose a few questions,
  • Suggest a couple of things to you, and
  • Ask you to buy something.

This is not going to be the next great American Novel, we are not going to insult your intelligence, pander to fear, greed, guilt, make you a victim or try and trick you into making an emotional set of decisions. We know you are smarter than that. Let's do a FAQ style format so we don't have to think of all sorts of snappy filler and transition material (and thus waste your time).

Tornado Alley - what's it about?

  • Tornado Alley is oriented strictly to helping US citizens develop a personal disaster plan for their household that is logical, follows a thoughtful process and is adapted to your needs,
  • It's founders have extensive experience in disaster/contingency planning for small to very large entities,
  • Tornado Alley stands in the gap left by various government agencies that have for all intents and purposes abandoned civil defense,
  • One of Tornado Alley's goals is to get every household in the United States to have a working, tested and refined disaster plan,
  • It's about providing a step-by-step process to take the mystery and hit-or-miss approach out of personal preparedness,
  • It's about helping to build a strong, resilient country without the interference of yet another costly government program,
  • It's about showing you how to plan and prepare for adversity so you won't be prone to anxiety, dependence on the government or tempted to take on a victim mentality, and
  • It's about forcing our enemies (foreign and domestic) to stop and consider their actions before engaging us.

Now it's your turn - we're asking a few questions:

  • Are you prepared? No instant answer here please. Sit down with your household, review your plan and ask each one present, "Are we ready?"
  • Have you specifically listed and addressed all threats and risks applicable to your household?
  • Do you have a good, scientifically based understanding of the nuclear issues facing the US today? Can you articulate the difference between dirty bombs, nuclear bombs, sheltering requirements and when/why to take potassium iodide? (for starters)
  • What is your response to chemical or biologic threats or attacks? (Hint: duct tape and plastic may get you killed)
  • What is your personal evacuation plan? Or do you stay in place?
  • What priority is the average US citizen to the Dept. of Homeland Security? (Hint: click on the link "Current threat level" in the top right column if you really want to know)
  • Can you safely shelter your household and any visitors in place for more than two weeks if all outside services are discontinued?
  • Do you understand the ramifications of the Patriot Act and governmental powers activated if the threat level is ever raised to Severe (red)?
  • Based on the above questions, we repeat, "Are you prepared?"
  • If you can truthfully answer yes we need you more than you need us! Contact us if you would like to help.

Please consider the following:

  • Visit our site on a regular basis,
  • Tell your network of friends about this site and ask them to visit. All you need to do is forward our email (or write your own) to your personal mailing list, and
  • Obtain a set of materials (see below) for yourself and your family not living with you (ex: parents, brothers/sisters, children).

Please buy the following materials - it may save your life and the lives of others.

Like we said at the top - no fear or manipulations. Just the facts and some questions to stimulate your thinking. What we are offering is a set of three (3) books that should be in every household, church, public library and business in this country. Period. They are that good, really. Here's the skinny on each:

"The Secure Home" by Joel Skousen (664 pg.)

Welcome to the granddaddy of preparedness books. Joel Skousen is a renowned expert on secure homes and has provided you with the essentials for self-sufficiency and security. You get over 650 pages of background info, plans, excellent ideas and a killer reference section containing just about everything you will ever need in your disaster planning journey. If you ever plan on owning a home this book will earn it's keep many times over just on energy saving ideas. You will be surprised how often you reference this material.

"Nuclear War Survival Skills" by Cresson H. Kearny (282 pg.)

One of the best, by the best. Kearny actually worked at Oak Ridge National Laboratory and provides clear, understandable discussion of nuclear issues and what you can do. You will be surprised at the errors propagated in the popular press that are dispelled here. One of the greatest assets of this book is the coverage on shelters (both permanent and expedient) that can protect you from whatever man or nature throws your way. OK, that's not totally true. A direct, ground hit of a large nuclear bomb right in your shelter will bring truth to the old idiom: "From dust to dust..."

Other than that little problem (which is avoidable)...you will profit from this because you will be informed when others are going hysterical. You will know how to shelter and survive wherever you are with just basic hand tools, simple supplies and materials found around you.

"10 Packs For Survival" by Joel Skousen (20 pg.)

A nifty little pamphlet with checklists to help you get your disaster planning activities under way. If your household addresses what is in this little book you are well on your way to being able to survive (and prosper!) regardless of what happens (well, see exception listed above).

So there you have it. Three excellent books with over 950 pages of information to help you prepare your household. Just implementing some of the energy saving ideas alone will save you the cost of these books many times over.

OK, so how much is this going to set me back?

$80.00 + $9.00 Shipping and Handling

Total: $89.00

Consider for a moment that this is less than:

  • Two regular tickets to see an NFL game ($55.00 each),
  • A nice dinner for two at a medium to fancy restaurant,
  • The cost of losing food in your freezer due to an extended power outage,
  • 60 gallons of gas (at $1.50/gal),
  • Two theme park passes ($60.00 each), and
  • Reducing your energy consumption by $7.50 per month for just one year.

Not a lot of money when it comes to having the resources to protect your household and close friends. Is it worth it?

We think so.

Send your check or money order for $89.00 and your email address (for shipping and tracking notices) to:
